Question

Lenovo L430 does not shut down

Feb 29, 2016 2:41AM PST

Hi there,

lately after my Upgrade to Widows 10 I have a problem with my L430, it is not shutting down.

The problem comes when I shut down, the monitor and everything is properly shutting down, but the power button is blinking endless, I have tried to let the laptop for several hours but the power button is still blinking.

I have formated the laptop twice to Windows 10 with no solution, the laptop is clean and has not bitlocker encryption.

I have tried also several BIOS settings but with no solution also.

Has anyone have had the sam problem and did find a solution?

Would be very nice Smiley Happy

- What happens if you press the power button to turn it off?
- Did you check the Lenovo site to see if there's any new motherboard driver for Windows 10.

Also note that if you do a totally new install (as you did twice) you might need ALL Windows 10 drivers from their site.

Hi you mean if I press the button for several seconds?

Thats the way I shut down the PC at the moment but iam looking for a solution for it.

I tries to install the BIOS Update from Lenovo with no success, the Laptop just doesnt install it.

Lenovo System Update installs some drivers but the also dont bring the solution.

Lenovo doesnt have much Windows 10 working drivers until now for Thinkpads.

My advice is to move to a supported OS.

About all you can try is a clean install with drivers you've found to work.

I found the solution.

I removed BIOS Battery for 1-2 Minutes and put it in again and now it shut down and restarts perfectly Happy

Probably BIOS Error.

Next time that happens, try it this way.

Power off, remove charger, remove battery, press and hold the power button for 60 seconds. Release, install battery, charger and re-test.
