Lenovo offers two "free" wifi options:
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and
Intel Centrino Wireless -N-1000.
Which is better?: 1] for distance {outdoor} 2] speed, etc.
They also offer, $55, Advanced-N+WiMax 6250. Is it worth it? I currently do not have a smart phone.

One would have to test both but my bet the result would be the same as before. Depending on the location, router and time of day, one will win over the other.
Since they are fairly equal I wonder if you know why they offer the choice?
Interesting question. Can you tell the answer? I don't know. And I suppose the OP doesn't either.

Then most common reason is that folk may want to use Linux or some other driver or OS. It's rarely a performance issue (and yes I've had both on other machines to compare and the results were so close that I call it identical.)
My original question is based on a purchase decision reflecting that all wifi use will be at hot spots.
And any test may result in one or the other "winning" I suggest you go with whichever costs less.
