The N-1000 says it's optimized for Centrino certified access points. Do you use such?
n is faster than g; g is faster than b. But only if you have an n-type router and you won't notice any difference when using Internet, unless you happen to have a 50+ mbps glass fiber connection.
WiMax only makes sense if your wireless provider offers it where you live (in stead of cable or ADSL broadband). Not for use with a home router.

Lenovo offers two "free" wifi options:
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and
Intel Centrino Wireless -N-1000.
Which is better?: 1] for distance {outdoor}
2] speed, etc.
They also offer, $55, Advanced-N+WiMax 6250. Is it worth it? I currently do not have a smart phone.
