Given the story, arrange for repair.

If folk ask how to disassemble then they are not into laptop repair. Just have it done. Wait till you take more courses on repair or look on YouTube for dis assembly videos.

So far

For power issues I try another adapter. These are about 20 bucks here.
As to the battery, I have encountered ONE and only ONE model that needed a battery to boot up.

After that the current designs have only two parts to swap out. The power adapter and the motherboard. Yes you may find an occasional broken power jack but if a tech can't test that, they are not allowed near the repair bench until their skills improve.

Given the story there are only so many parts in play.

Laptops are highly integrated things. Unlike a desktop and even those only have a few pieces to change out when they fail.

But this isn't the end of many laptops. A crafty individual will part it out and sell off every item. You never know if some needs a top cover, LCD, cable from here to there and such. Usually you can get most of your cost out if you do that.

Repair is usually costly given the story. I don't get the feeling you have the usual DVM or know how to measure Volts etc. But you can learn such in most first semester classes.
