Legit use for Windows 7 activation extension (ep #1047)

Rafe, Tom, Brian T., and Jason were discussing the "uselessness" of the ability that Microsoft included to extend the Windows 7 activations. Personally, I love this feature! I have an obsession with messing with the registry, tweaking random settings, etc. on my computer(s) at home and every few months, I reformat my computer. At this point reformatting and reinstalling the O.S. and most essential programs only takes a few hours. But Microsoft limits the number of activations I can do (even though I have a 100% legal retail copy of Vista), so instead I extend the activation timeout as long as I can.

Obviously this is a limited use situation, but it is extremely helpful for me so I am very happy that this feature will continue to exist in Windows 7.

That's bizarre. The post above was by me ("thrawnis") but it shows the username "JereDWeaver" instead.

Windows 7 Activation Extension May Benefit Microsoft

In reply to: Legit use for Windows 7 activation extension (ep #1047)

Maybe Microsoft is giving out this extension to put off the registration so that their servers won't be totally inundated with registrations right at rollout.

If a few thousand folks enter this code instead, then their real registration wouldn't come until later.

Just a thought.
