Left click doesn't open messages

Feb 2, 2011 5:32AM PST

In Thunderbird and ACDSee and some others like Photoshop, my left click no longer opens files. I have to press enter or make a right click menu selection. It always did this before.
It moves focus,...

I've gone to every dialog box in Win 7, and ACDSee and haven't found what is wrong. I even re-installed my mouse (MS Intellipoint) drivers. It doesn't work with my tablet mouse either, so I can only assume the problem is with Win 7.

Any ideas? ?????

Computer Make And Model?
Feb 2, 2011 6:57AM PST

And have you tried?

1. Open the Control Panel-Mouse icon, then the "Pointers" tab, select "Windows Aero (system scheme) as the Scheme, then click on the "Default" button.

2. If you're using a wireless mouse, try using a wired one. Or maybe use a PS2 wired mouse instead of USB.

3. Open the Control Panel-Mouse icon, then the "Hardware" tab.. In Device Properties, does it say "Device Status" is "This device is working properly"?

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I tried all of your suggestions, but it didn't help. The device is working properly. I even tried using a PS-2 adapter for the mouse. I tried with Aero scheme and without it. 'Rebooted each time. No change. And the window for the pointer to move to the newly opened dialog does not always work either. And it will open icons, open links, but won't open messages in Tbird or files or pics in ACDSee either. But it does in Windows Explorer.

I've got a Core2Duo computer, Win 7 OS, MSIntellimouse Optical Wheelmouse. ???????

I found the answer! I slowed down doubleclick. While the test in the driver works, it doesn't work out in the real Win 7 for some reason. Thanks for the help tried.
