We are finally on the market for a new TV after 14 years & 4 kids thru college...we mostly watch sports-NHL, MBL, NFL etc..movies - not much other - looking at following:plasma: Pan vt50-55", samsung pn60e8000 60", LED: sony xbr55hx929, & samsung un55es8000f. Are we missing another that we should be looking at. Trying to narrow the selection down to make a purchase! Thanks for comments & assistance!

Since no video games those old issues of image retention *plasma may not be a problem for you. The only recurring complaint is that the makers are not offering long warranties. Just recently I've seen a few move to 2 years but the horror stories continue with too many reports that these things are not always getting the usual 5 year life spans.

My advice is to never over invest.

Thanks - cost is an issue. the pan plasma 55" $2200, samsung plasma $2300, sony LED$3000, and samsung LED ~2400. Is there a better option at the high end performance models?

If that is in USD then that's a lot of dough for a five year device. But some feel it's worth it.

Did you check out what's at Costco?
