Learning Adobe Photoshop CS2

Dec 27, 2005 2:04AM PST

Hi, I just wanted to know if there are any online free tutorials for Adobe Photoshop CS2 for beginners. I mean which makes you start from the core basics, not straight to "how to make snow" or "how to produce the peel effect". Any good websites?
Thanks.

Sikander, Go to Adobe.com and download the trial version in Mac OSX or PC version. It is a full version. The only thing that you cannot do with the tryout version is to save or print.

There aren't many good tutorials that are still free, but there are a few. The first is this one from About.com, which starts with the very basics. It was written for the older versions, so it may not match up exactly with Photoshop CS2, but it should be pretty close. There's also this one from Cnet, though you have to sign up for it and it's only available during certain tme periods. (It's not available at this time.) Once you feel more comfortable with it there's this guide to creating common effects as well as the official Adobe tutorials.

Hope this helps,
John

Good post.
John, I did not know you were a member of About.com?
I am also. Good site to join and I would reccommend the Newsletters for each section of About. Really good tips that I use with many applications.
Also up-to-date with tips on the newsletters that go out weekly.
The editors are working professionals. The beauty of these newsletters is the fact they are written with current experiences the week before I think.
Not as tutorials, that were written last year.

As you suggested, Adobe has tutorials as well as tips for all their software at adobe.com. All are good and up-to-date.

Anyone interested in a monthly newsletter from Quark Express can sign up for them at quark.com. There are url links to all on this newsletter.
Interestingly enough, I was invited to their booth and a pass to the convention in California next summer when Quark unvails V7. Very exciting for many. A brand new version of Quark from the ground up. Not an update at all. Anyone that has tried the V7 were subjected to a gag order to not disclose the information. Here is the V7?Sign on the dotted line.
Highlights have been disclosed with the media on V7 with an OK from Quark.

Interesting to note, our company is starting with Quark 6.5 in two weeks and will be going to V7 in July when it is released.
Oh, well, another learning curve ahead for me again. Will it never end!!!

John, keep up the good posts

John, we have been taken for a cruise on a pirate ship!
Dec 30, 2005 2:01PM PST

Just think about this. (Newer post back to me)? The poster has a full version of Adobe Photoshop. Why didn't he mention that in his original post? Why does he need a tutorial?

Because he has a copy or illigal download that does not contain the tutorial.
Thought of this driving home from work this evening.

Bob Proffitt brought this issue up a few months ago.
I forgot about it while posteng to the poster from India because I thought that he wanted to learn Photoshop V7CS2. Asked for a tutorial. That's why I suggested a trial version on my original post back to him.

Mate, we've been taken for a cruise on a pirate ship. :
