LE46A956 WiseLink video playback

Nov 21, 2008 9:15PM PST

Hello Mr Samsung!

I have a new LCD tv LE46A956. It nearly perfect as a television.
However WiseLink network functions seems a little bit unfinished.

I have some MPEG2 streams recorded from DVB-T card in my PC.
Streams are in PAL resolution 720x576 with aspect ratios 4:3 and 16:9. Usual video player on PC renders them correctly.
When I playback the same files on tv using WiseLink (over LAN) video is shown with bad aspect 5:4 (rectangular pixels) regardless of "Picture size" setting to "Original" or "Fit".

Firmare update to
Scaler S/W Version : T-RBYDEUM-1007.1
CPU S/W Version : T-RBYDEUC-1010.0
didn't help, neither the newest PC Share Manager 1.4.2

Does Samsung work on that problem? Will it be fixed in the next firmware update?

Wrong image format with LE40A756R1MXXQ (Europe)
Dec 13, 2008 11:04AM PST

I have a new LCD TV LE40A756R1MXXQ and it has the same problem.

I have MPEG2 streams recorded with my SONY Handycam DCR-SR90E and in the PC I see them correctly in wide screen 16x9.
When I playback the same files on tv using WiseLink (in a pen drive) video is shown with bad aspect 4x3, regardless of "Picture size" setting to "Original" or "Fit", and the TV does not let me select the picture size ( 16x9 or 4x3 ).

Firmare update T-RBYDEUC-1010.0 didn't help as well.

I have the same question / request: Does Samsung work on that problem? Will it be fixed in the next firmware update?

UK Formats

The formats that are supported are listed in the manual. For your convenience, I've added them here.

Anything outside of the resolution + audio + codec combinations strictly listed here MIGHT work, but may experience some of the video issues you are describing.

If there is a firmware fix for it, it will come from Samsung UK, and unfortunately, I cannot comment on their behalf.

WiseLink Pro video playback aspect
Jan 7, 2009 9:39PM PST

Just to clean up things: I'm sure that scaling video to correct aspect _IS_ integral part of MPEG standard and PAL resolution is listed as supported in tv manual. So the problem is at least in europe version firmware.

scaling doesnt work
Jun 1, 2009 8:16PM PDT

Hi,

I think this is a main issue because this makes impossible to watch vobs using DLNA. The same problem occurs with MP4 encoded video. This is really a pitty because all PC players I tried are scaling the video fine.

Another issue I got yesterday is the TV froze during playback of a large AVI/H264/AC3 movie. The movie is about 2h long and the freeze occured very close to the end. The movie started to slow down and finally froze. The TV remote control wasn't working anymore and I had to unplug the power source to stop the TV.

I'm running latest firmare 1013.1

freeze

Just for information I guess the freeze occured because the AVI was slightly larger than 2GB. I'm encoding pure MP4 right now.
