LE40A786R HDMI -> Vista + Asus EAH4650 HDMI = Black Screen

Jan 3, 2009 7:20PM PST

Hello. Please help me!

I have a Samsung LE40A786R LED 100MHz TV and I want to connect it to my pc.

The PC has an Asus EAH4650 gfx card with an HDMI slot, a DVI slot and a VGA slot ... and Vista 64bit.

When I connect HDMI to HDMI I get nothing but a black screen. The pc recognizes the TV and the model but the TV says "searching for signal".

If I plug VGA to VGA (PC slot on TV) it works. But the point here is to have HDMI quality.

I've tried anything I could think of:

- I have the latest drivers on PC. The TV has no new firmware
- I've also tried previous drivers but no luck
- Unplugged HDMI and replugged to cause handshaking
- Started PC with TV on and vice versa
- Tried all combination of resolutions and refresh rates- Disabled/Enabled Anynet+
- Tried all 4 HDMI slots

And still nothing!!!! Please help!

PS: Sometimes, when changing resolutions, I might get an instant desktop display on the TV. (means that the cable is ok)

What Hz is the laptop outputting?

Have you tried adjusting the resolution and Hz?

Do you get the startup screen when you start the computer?

Thank you for your time.

yes, I've tried all possible refresh rates from the video card:

25, 26, 28, 29, 50, 59, 60

According to manual it should work with 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, but ... it does not. At any HDMI slot.

No, I do not see anything at any time with any resolution or Hz
(not at boot screen, not in a windows screen)

(the only time I see a screen is for a sec at random times when playing with the resolution and refresh rates. but it's random. does not always work do it with the same settings)
