Even though you won't be primarily using the HD tuner in the set, you usually get more for your money than just the tuner. Currently the TV's with built in HD tuners usually have better optics and over all better picture quality....also, since doing HD picture in picture is out of the question with sat unless you are willing to spend alot of money on 2 sat boxes you can always do picture in picture with the off air tuner with one sat box
I am trying to determine if I should buy an LCD TV that had a built in tuner or one that is HD compatible. I have Directv so it appears that buying one with a tuner is waste of money since I will need to upgrade to the hdtv directv package. Is that correct? or will I be able to watch hd programing on an lcd tv that has a built in tuner without upgrading my directv?
Thanks
