My brother in law is soon to celebrate a major milestone in that he'll have written his medical board exams and will finally be a fully licensed pediatrician. We'd like to buy him his dream TV as a gift.
From what I've read, here are the specs I'm thinking we need to gun for:
46inch minimum-55inch max.
HDMI x3 (I think that would be enough)
I'm assuming that his old home theatre (an all in one-think it's RCA/Svid imputs) wouldn't work and would therefore need to also be replaced, which is fine...but I'm unclear as to what other imputs he'd need or want to have given that this should last him a number of years and he'll likely upgrade his receiver setup in the near future.
3D ready is NOT of interest.
-Is LCD truly the better machine over plasma today?
-What component inputs are of interest beyond HDMI
-is 240Hz a worthy investment for someone seeking the best quality--is there something better?
And given all of the above--what would you passionate people recommend I look at? NOTE we're in Canada.
