LCD TV as a computer monitor display issue

Mar 8, 2010 10:46PM PST

I'm using a 720p Sony Bravia as my monitor for my ASUS laptop. The GPU is an Intel GMA 4500. I thought that connecting the laptop to the TV would increase the amount of space I could work with but instead, it just magnifies everything. I've played w/ the resolution. I have it set on max 1360x768. What can I do to get more space on the screen?

Thank you.

The setting and display are 720p so that's all the pixels available. So you are right. It should look big since there are not that many pixels.

Try changing the video sitting to a higher resolution.

For vga only and not dvi. This would also be a pain if you have to constantly changing the laptop sitting though. I don't know how good the graphic would look but it will definitely give you more space. Give it a try and see how you like it.

Sorry. I don't understand.

Are you saying that since I don't have a 1080p TV that I cannot change the resolution? I have it set on max. On my older computers and monitors, I could change the resolution to make the icons/desktop smaller. Why will it not let me do the same here?

video resolution of the computer. Right-click on the desktop>properties>sitting; change sitting higher than 768. Give it a try.
