by lcd_leap / August 30, 2007 2:29 AM PDT

hi all!!,

i am planning to go for 17" inch lcd monitor. i have few queries about lcd monitor. right now i have 17" crt monitor.

* what i want to know is if i go for 17" lcd monitor will the screen size of lcd monitor be same as 17" crt monitor or will i get more screen to work.?

* further i am planning to go for 17" wide screen lcd monitor. i've heard that 17" lcd monitor will have vertical size equivalent to 15" monitor. is that true?

and finally the most important question.

* will lcd monitor cause less eye fatigue?

kindly send in your views and suggestions asap,

thanks in advance,

lcd monitors

with an LCD, the full 17" (diagonal) will be visible/usable; with most CRTs you lose 1/2" to 1" of the screen.

yes, a 17" widescreen will only be about as tall as a 15" monitor.

as for eye fatigue, i would say yes since they are less susceptbile to flicker and jitter. however, LCDs are very bright and some people find that causes more eyestrain.

p.s.: 19" LCDs are almost the same price as 17"ers. i think you'll be much happier with the bigger size especially if it's only $20 difference in price.
