I have a Gateway 500X PC with a LCD Plat Panel Monitor. The processor is a Pentium 4, 2.4GHz w/512K L2 advanced transfer cache and 533 MHz FSB. Memory is 512MB 266MHz DDR SDRAM (1-512MD Module).
For a short time whenever I started the computer the monitor would flicker for a few seconds and then stop. It has now reached the point that when the monitor is turned on it goes on for a second and then the screen goes black. It can take an hour, shutting power button on and off, before the monitor stays lit and then it works normally as long as it stays on. I did turn it off for 20 minutes and it came back on normally but if it's off longer than that I have the same problem. I did check the power cord and cable cord and when I go into the Display icon it tells me the monitor is working fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
