LCD Monitor prob

by hippiechick37 / August 4, 2006 9:59 AM PDT

I just bought a 19" LG LCD monitor. I bought a dvi cable to connect from my monitor to my computer. I am having problems with this. I am currently using the analog cable. It came on at first then started freaking out and getting fuzzy and then I had to picture. If I unplug the DVI connector from the back of my video card and plug it back, it would come back on briefly then go back to a black screen.

I have no idea why this is. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I had this problem with a Sylvania LCD monitor. I tried to use it with an IBM NetVista. The problem was NO DRIVER! Try your graphics card mfg'r. If you don't know whether you have a graphics card, or the brand name,
go to and get their little program which will go through your PC and list all the components by name & model no. Then you can see if they have a graphics driver which will work.

You need to use a digital out port for a digital monitor - Analog won't work.
From what you say, it sounds like you have a digital out card
Check in Device Manager for any "splats" on Display
You may need to install/update drivers

I have a display now using the dvi link, but when I press one of the buttons, the enter symbol key, it tells me "Digital Video Input, No Access." What is going on?

Some functions on the MENU of monitors are not changeable when using DVI. Most if not all cannot change the color settings on the monitor while uding DVI, that has to be done in the video driver or monitor profile settings.

Yours may have everything locked out using DVI.
