LCD issues with Canon A630

Feb 13, 2010 3:58AM PST

A while back I (unfortunately) got the bottom of my Canon A630 wet. After it dried out, the camera still worked, except for the LCD screen. I can see menus and such, can't use the LCD to take photos.

I really like this camera and really don't have the budget to purchase a new one. If I replace the LCD do you think that will resolve the issue? I guess I'm not sure if I am sure that will do it, since I can still see menus.

TIA!

Wet A630

I doubt that the problem is the LCD.
It sounds more like the connection from the CCD sensor to the LCD.

I suggest you let it dry some more.
Remove the battery and memory card.
Leave the doors open and set the camera in a warm dry place for several days.

I hope it was not salt water, because that will corrode the inside of the camera.

If all else fails, you still have a viewfinder.

Thanks very much. Nope, it wasn't salt water. I was fly fishing and slipped while wading and the bottom of the camera got wet.

Very true. I really love that camera and would hate to replace it just b/c of the LCD screen.

Thanks!
