Latest Version of AVG

Dec 6, 2010 9:33PM PST

I am being pestered to upgrade to the latest version of AVG. I am still running 8.5 after the debacle with 9.

What does anyone know about this latest version? Is it still Beta?

Ooh ooh!!

I have just been reading the other posts!

Well I for one will not install 2011. 8.5 works for me so why change it?? Particularly for something which looks like total crap, just like 9.0 was!!

Is there anything else available (free) that does a good job?

How can you remove support for a product that works, when the replacement so obviously doesnt.
I made the mistake of loading 9.0 when it came out, and eventually it was suggested by AVG it would be better to go back to 8.5. How clever is that?

When are you going to learn to test a product before you release it? We as users should not be doing your testing and getting into all sorts of troubles with our computers.

I really have no confidence in AVG any more!!

Hello nilocp

"How can you remove support for a product that works, when the replacement so obviously doesnt."

Microsoft makes their living on this. Windows 98 SE is still their best OS. It came out as typical Microsoft garbage but once they got it going well they made it obsolete.

Good Luck

How right you are. I have progressed to XP, which again I am happy with. But when will I have to change to 7?

Hello nilocp and uileann4,

Windows XP lifecycle is described at this Microsoft website.

You can still use AVG9 (links available in this post - scroll down).

Thank you
