I just downloaded and installed the new update for TechTracker but now all the program does when I click on View My Software is take me to the techtracker update download page. There has been a constant problem with this program not recognizing that updates have made but you would think that it would recognize that the program itself has been updated. This program is now completely dysfunctional.I tried re-installing it several times but no matter how many updates it says are available all I can get to is the TechTracker update page.I would be interested to know if anyone else has this problem.

What happened to the familiar TechTracker format? What are other alternatives for seeing new and upgraded software on a daily basis?

Same Problem
Sep 18, 2011 1:59PM PDT

I never used a former version of TechTracker so I wasn't aware that this problem is specific to this version til now. For the record, my OS is Win7 Home Premium; if info on the browser, security, firewall, etc., that I use will help, just ask. In my case, I run a scan then get a message saying "2 updates available, 13 tracked items". When I click the "View My Software" button my browser starts [if it's not already running] then TechTracker's download page opens. This was reported 3 weeks ago; is anyone from CNET aware of this problem?

Hello,

You can go directly to www.cnet.com/techtracker, and click the "log in" link in the upper right side of the page. Log in with your registered email address, and then click the "TechTracker" link. This will take you to your list of available updates.

Gregg

Thanks, Gregg, that helped a lot but I ran into something a little weird. I just reinstalled TechTracker & did a scan which showed everything up to date which is probably true but, after clicking "View my Software" & navigating to my software per your instructions, the list was over a month old & showed 6 programs were out of date including one that has been removed. Is there a time delay between a scan & when the results are posted? Also, I'd like to suggest that these instructions be added to the desktop TechTracker screen or the "Download TechTracker" page since this is neither intuitive nor obvious, in my opinion. Thanks again.

I have found that the updated version of TechTracker, which I finally got working, still consistently fails to recognize that some programs have been updated, even after a considerable amount of time and numerous scans. This applies to a whole range of programs from Rainmeter to IDM. I have found that the program still seems erratic and unpredictable and it is confusing trying to sort out the programs which need to be updated from the ones which have already been updated and which continue to clutter up my software list. Its a good program but obviously still needs improvement.
