Last Resort

Apr 22, 2011 8:31AM PDT

Hello,

I have been an AVG user for it seems like eternity. Last Fall I upgraded to AVG 2011 and started having a problem.

Windows XP SP3
Barebones AVG 2011 installation with Outlook email scanner
Outlook 2003

If I create an email message in Outlook and send it it will NOT send if I preview the outbox with the message in it. The only may to get it to send is to delete the message and go to a different folder re-create the meassage and send it. If I go to the outbox before the message is sent it WILL NOT SEND.

This only happens on NON-Administator accounts.

I am also unable to temporarily disable protection as I get an error message stating "Access denied".

This seems to be some type of permissions error.

I have contacted AVG technical support 6 weeks ago. That fiasco has driven me to insanity. Telling me they received my log files, then then telling me to re-send them as they never received them 3 times..... I sent screen caps of the error message I get when trying to temporarily disable protection as well, but somehow they never received them each time.

If anyone has had a similar problem I am open to suggestions on a fix. I am not open to changing the email scanner to generic, and I am not open to not previewing the outbox as the last support tech suggested, as the underlying problem still exists,,. My license expires in 2 days and I don't want to switch protection... Due to support issues I may anyway, who knows..

I have already tried a full uninstall and re-install of AVG, Outlook repair, among others..

Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance.

AVG did not recognize there was an update available. I did a compete uninstall, re-boot and fresh install with the 10.0.1321 version and everything works fine now. Thank You.

I am surprised the support staff did not seem to know what the heck I was talking about when apparently it was a known bug.

I informed AVG tech support that this case has been resolved. I will refrain from supplying the case number as I did get a bit hostile after 6 weeks of the run-around.

Thank You again.

Hello greasyj,

we are happy to hear that the issue is resolved.

AVG did not install this program update (even after trying to update it by clicking the "Update now" button) as it is currently offered to random users (to lower update servers load) before it will be released to all AVG users. This is common model of distributing non-critical program updates.

Thank you.
