General discussion

Last episode of The Sopranos...

Jun 10, 2007 2:25AM PDT

DO NOT READ IF YOU PLAN TO WATCH IT LATER! THIS IS ABOUT THE LAST EPISODE AND WHAT WE THINK WILL HAPPEN!!!!

What do you think will happen in the last episode tonight? I have a feeling that both Tony and the NY family will get busted. And I think Sopranos will get busted because of the asbestos dumping...

I haven't caught much of this season but...

I think AJ dies... Tony is in jail... and Meadow takes over as boss of the family and finishes the mob war after being insulted once again by the new york families.

And after Sopranos tonight

John from Cincinnati" (2007)

In Imperial Beach, California, the dysfunctional Yost family intersects with two new arrivals to the community: a dim-but-wealthy surfing enthusiast (Nichols) and man spurned by the Yosts years ago.

Same writer as Deadwood.

Replaces Sopranos time slot

Perhaps Uncle Junior might escape and have a part in the last episode.

At the beginning of this season....
Jun 10, 2007 7:02AM PDT

....I thought it might end with Carmela finding out what really happened to Adriana and killing Tony. Now I'm mostly wondering how they're going to wrap everything up in an hour. One big guess -- it looks to me as if Paulie has been working for Phil's crew. Remember, they had approached him a couple of seasons ago and we never did find out where that went. Now Paulie is getting very irritated about the plan to take Phil out, and he took off in his car before Silvio got hit. Plus Phil made clear to his people that Paulie was not to be a target.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it end tonight with Tony and his crew being wiped out and the show ending with Phil shaking hands with Paulie.

That's a very likely scenario...

For some reason I have a feeling that they will keep "it open" for future episodes which includes AJ as the one to take over from Tony...

AJ isn't smart enough...
Jun 10, 2007 8:08AM PDT

...to be anything more than a low-level guy, which is probably why Tony has tried to keep him on a better path.

I thought I once heard something about a Sopranos movie but I could be wrong; however a movie would allow them to leave some plot lines open tonight without angering the audience too much.

I agree, but...

Tony hasn't proved to be too "smart" either...

I any case, I think a possible scenario is that Dr. Melphi is going to rat him.
However the asbestos garbage may be the clue...

I realize that there are a lot of different endings and that I don't provide you with any... LOL!

BTW Josh. Have you heard from Dan?

I have not heard from him, nor have I tried to contact him in awhile. I'll drop him a note though.

WHAT THE *****???????????
Jun 10, 2007 12:25PM PDT

At the end I thought we had lost our satellite signal. The setup looked like Tony was about to get whacked and Meadow's parking problem was going to save her life. Right now I feel hung out to dry a bit like back in high school when I'd be on a date with a girl who would put the big tease on me and then say "wait, I have a boyfriend, I can't...."

I don't know how much of it is just hating to see the show end and how much is dissatisfaction with the ending. I think David Chase was trying to bring it to a "the more things change, the more they stay the same" conclusion.

I hope there's a movie or another season....

Will there be a sequel to the Sopranos?
Jun 10, 2007 2:04PM PDT

The Sopranos, as we knew it, is over. Maybe there will be a new show, along the lines of the Sopranos, and we might find out what happened that night at the diner to the Soprano family?
Maybe there will be a new show called "The Goldbergs?"

That's what I thought too. Highly unsatisfying ending.

But that last scene with Phil at the gas station made me happy.

That was pretty wicked, all right

I think what annoys me the most is that I still can't get that awful Journey song out of my head.

The ending is a bit like Andy Kaufman -- people will either find it really annoying or think it was brilliant. I haven't made up my mind yet. The scene, of course, was a reference to a scene in the first Godfather film. Also, earlier this season Tony and Bobby were talking in the rowboat and Bobby asked Tony what he thinks it feels like to get shot to death. Tony said something like "Everything just goes black."

Hmmmmmmm.......

I've already heard a variety of theories...

about what, if anything, happened.

Maybe that was the point. Leave it a mystery.

I would have preferred a more traditional ending though.

In Tony's world....
Jun 11, 2007 12:59AM PDT

....a guy walking past you to the bathroom may be getting ready to kill you or he may just be going to the bathroom. Tony can never be sure. Maybe David Chase wanted his audience to feel that way too. If that was his intention, it sure worked.

And in the end all AJ needed was a new girlfriend and a cooler (free) car.

I was really tired of AJ

"John from Cincinnatti" looked good.
Jun 10, 2007 11:54PM PDT

I was not impressed by the gimmick ending for the Sopranos. If they wanted to show despite Karma that Tony survives... the tension build up at the end was nice but the writers should have just let the tension disappear and left the family end up in a twisted "Norman Rockwell meets North Jersey diner" vignette.

He has a degree in fine arts and looks to be a pretty good painter.

That's what it is like when you get whacked.
