I have many miles on this printer and there are many more to go. I took Topher Kessler's advice in his 11/09/2009 MacFixit post about connecting to the 8500 with Snow Leopard. I connected the printer to one of my Time Capsule's ethernet ports and the ethernet port of the printer. The printer shows up for selection when I use the PAGE SETUP & PRINT commands, but the printer immediately goes to PAUSE when I go to PRINT. When I click on INFO in the print cue I find that the computer can't find the printer [input ethernet address].
When the 8500 prints a test page after turned on, that page prints an ethernet address for the printer (08:00:07:64:1e:70) and that is the address I put into the ADD PRINTER dialog box under the "Line Printer Daemon -- LPD" selection (which says that this address is either incorrect or incomplete). My SYSTEM PROFILER lists the same address.
I'm in a quandry. How do I determine the correct ethernet address for the printer?
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
