The other clue is the 100GB unit. I find if it does 100, any drive up to 127GB will be fine. http://www.48bitlba.com documents the reason this OS is the limiter.
As to ruining components only those that own nothing but a hammer tend to do that.
I'm told the size of a laptop's hard drive is limited by its BIOS and OS. My "BIOS Version" according to when I go into the BIOS is A04 (04/20/2006), my "System" is MM061, and my OS is XP Pro. This is a Dell Inspiron 6400 E1505, and according to the Dell tech guy it can only handle up to a 100GB hard drive. Is this true? I would really like to add more, 150GB would probably do it.
If I did upgrade to a larger hard drive than it could handle, what would happen? Would that ruin any of the components?
