Question

Large (very large) "Box" camera

Jun 9, 2015 3:39PM PDT

Seems I saw an odd camera at a sporting event on TV. It looked like a large men's shoe box with a lens on it. Nearly perfectly rectangular, black and "appeared"just by how it was been used, to be very high tech. For the short time I had to see it, I saw no dials or buttons. Anyone have any idea what type of camera this might have been?

The history of cameras.

There are so many big box film cameras. Ansel Adams used one too.

That's why the boxes are so long, no lens focusing, but nobody would use one at a sporting event I don't think, since typically they require a longer exposure time.

Old ?

Sounds like something older than a press-camera.
Jimmy Olsen of the Superman series used a press camera.

The older cameras had no knobs or controls.
The shutter was simply to take off the lens cover for a few seconds and then put it back.
Hold your breath - no one move.
