Question

Large screen, low resolutions

May 7, 2015 10:41AM PDT

I have a 42-inch plasma TV. Some of the older shows on Netflix are a bit fuzzy; I assume that's because they were recorded before the HD revolution.

I'm considering buying a TV with a much larger screen (say 55"). I'll be watching from about 10 feet from the screen. Am I going to see even fuzzier video from old shows? Anyone have experience with this kind of setup?

(I plan to use bluray disks for good resolution at 10 feet.)

Cheers,

Will

Something else you may not realize about netflix is that...

the resolution will decrease if the internet bandwidth is not up to par at the time you are watching it. Just a thought.

Stretching out a low resolution netflix feed (and they have plenty, btw) only means you would be exacerbating the problem. OTOH, viewing such standard resolution content on a *smaller* screen would give you a less fuzzy picture overall.

The larger screen you plan on buying will actual require higher resolution/quality content to maximize PQ.
