Laptops wireless to wired desktop HELP!

So I need some help. I'm good with computers and not really that good with networking. I'm not really too sure if this can even be done, but here goes.

I have a laptop that has a wireless card and a desktop with a normal LAN port. The laptop also has a LAN Port. I am using a friends internet on the laptop so connecting a LAN to the desktop isn't an option.

My question is this: is there anyway to use the laptop as an expensive wireless card for the desktop? If it's possible, is there a way to connect the desktop to the laptop via a ethernet cable and have it pull internet from the laptop?

Both machines are using Vista.

But most discover it's too much headache today.

I tried ICS by connecting the LAN to the laptop from the desktop and enabling ICS. The desktop just didn't register anything and the laptop would allow ICS.

Most can't use it anymore.

I know I'm going to end up buying a wireless card for the desktop since it is cheap enough. I just wanted to put it off.

Oh and I'm sharing the internet because it will take a week for the ISP to connect DSL. (I just moved.)

Just so you know.

ICS does this but the firewalls and configuration of ICS seem to be too hard today. The article I shared is too close to what you asked to do.
