Laptops in Canada

by rainguards / May 30, 2010 10:24 AM PDT

Hello, I am looking for a laptop and have been searching this site for advice and tips. All my top choices from here are not sold in Canada (B.C). All of the laptops I am looking into at Best Buy and other stores, I cannot find any reviews on them here! Anyone know of any review sites for Canadian-sold lap tops? I have googled and found nothing..
Intersted in;

HP pavilion g62-153ca i3, HP Pavilion Core i5 DV6-2138ca
Toshiba Satellite L500-00F i3
Dell Inspiron 15 I5-430m
Acer Aspire As5741-6317 i5
Sony vpceb12fdt i3

Is the diff between the intel core i3 and i5 that big? I am currently using a ibook g4 (for comparison).

Thanks

Are just as good as other country reviews so I would not limit my readings to just Canada.

It is true that reviews on specific models may not exist. An example would be a Walmart model or if you don't know to compare the g62t with the i5 to the Canadian version and know the review is going to be the same.

That's all I'll write about that.

The i3 to i5 difference is well documented but let me state I'd take the i5 because of my work any day.

I know it seems difficult to find relevant reviews for laptops (available in Canada), there is a local website that provides good reviews for PC's and other computer-related products http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/

As for buying a good laptop/ PC from a reputable dealer, try NCIX.com, their prices/ warranties are going to be better than any at Walmart, BestBuy, Futureshop
http://www.ncix.com/
Another great place for shopping for laptops is Memory Express; although the shops are located East of you for now (coming to Vancouver in Summer 2010), I know for a fact their warranties are the best in the business (here in Canada), and they have free shipping anywhere in Canada http://www.memoryexpress.com/
