Re: laptop

If "all the way" is 5 or 6 years, nobody will guarantee that a laptop (especially if taken to school in backpack every day) will last that long. But if you pay for 3 year warranty, and insure for 3 years against accidents and loss, it will last 3 years.

Does the school specify any requirements for the laptop? Would a Chromebook do or does it need to be Windows? Would a refurb Windows 7 laptop do or must it be Windows 10? What software is required? Do they offer a deal?

I have yet to find any maker warrant anything for that long. Even cars with long warranties have you bringing it in often for checkups so I have the answer there is no such laptop.

Dell Latitude

Dell Latitude Series are business class and designed for office & on road. They come with a 3 year warranty (Next day service) and you can extend the warranty another 2 year so that's 5 years. Also check your home contents insurance; some policies cover items such as laptops both in & out of home.

You can also buy them second hand and if you do, run the Service Tag No. through Dell Support and it will tell you if there is still warranty on the laptop. As long as you have a receipt from the previous registered owner it can be transferred into your name and if you want to extend the warranty no problems.

From the e6530 15 inch /6430 14 inch Win 10 drivers are available as well. I got a e6540 i7 8 Gb Ram full HD display & put in a Samsung SSD and it rocks. Easy to service & upgrade with videos on YouTube. Spent $450.00 AU & $150 for the SSD
