Question

Laptop won't show on tv using HDMI cable

Sep 1, 2015 9:34AM PDT

My laptop screen has been broken for almost a year. I've always been using HDMI cable so I can connect my laptop to tv so I can actually use it. Today though, I turned on my laptop and everything was fine, HDMI connected and everything. I got to the screen where you have to login, and after I did login, the screen went black and I can see the mouse pointer for a few seconds until tv lost signal and didn't work again. Incaase this helps, I use windows 10. Please help me figure this out as I really need my laptop. Thank you in advance!

But this issue is not new. Eventually something happens and we have to repair the laptop.

Let's try Safe Mode too.

It's possible the video mode is not correct for the TV. Your post lacks details such as make, model which may or not help. But I did run into a Windows update that showed only on the main screen then you OK it and then the next time it worked.

This is why you eventually fix the laptop.
