Laptop wont recognize Microsoft Office

My daughters laptop ( a lenovo t-400 with office ultimate preinstalled) stopped recognizing microsoft office and keeps asking for the key. When we place the key in it doesn't recognize it and says it it not correct. We got the key from the bottom of the laptop. She has been using this for approximately 9 months when this happened.

Any help would be appreciated she needs this for finals.

What to do next.

Look to Lenovo.com to find who to call there. Activation issues like this are done with the OEM supplier so save yourself a few steps by calling the right company. Microsoft doesn't handle this OEM issue so back to lenovo.

Odds are

Odds are, you're putting in the Windows license key and trying to use it with a TRIAL version of Office. Something that is destined to fail.

I've never seen an Office key sticker on a laptop. I'm not saying they can't exist, I'm saying it seems unlikely. So unless the sticker specifically says it is for MS Office, it's not going to work. If it does specifically say MS Office, and it's for the exact version installed on your system, then you should follow Bob's advice and call Lenovo. Otherwise, I'm inclined to think that you either have an expired trial version, or what you assumed was preinstalled was actually pirated.
