Question

Laptop won't connect to Internet, but everything else does

Sep 9, 2016 10:17PM PDT

My laptop won't connect to the internet. It was working just fine this morning, but when I came home, it wouldn't connect. It'd say I was connected to a network, but with no Internet and had that yellow exclamation mark. Thing is, everything else in the house can connect just fine. My phone (which I'm using right now), my brother and mother's laptop all connect just fine. But my laptop won't connect through Wifi or ethernet cable either. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and doing the scan to bring them back. Didn't work. I've restarted my laptop multiple times. Didn't work. I have no idea what else to do. I have an HP Envy dv6 Notebook running Windows 10.

try router power cycle

before messing with any more settings, try a power cycle on the router. even though you are not having any problems with other computers and devices, sometimes, one just cannot connect until you do a power cycle.

Boot from a Linux disk or stick. If that works (either wired or wireless) go back to Windows 10 and do a refresh or reset.
