Question

LAPTOP WONT BOOT !HELP!

Apr 28, 2020 3:34AM PDT

Hey, so today I was updating my laptop drivers then my laptop just froze then I restarted it. When I restarted it I went into windows advance option then I just reset my computer. Then when I was resetting it then it was on the ASUS logo loading with the dots for a while. So, I shut it down and it won't boot fully.
I can't go into windows advance options and can go into windows. I can go into BIOS but I don't know what to do though. But it did give me a blue screen of death saying PNP driver watchdog but I'm not sure what it says.
I have an ASUS zenbook.

Help! Thank you

That looks serious.
First: why and how was you updating your laptops drivers? It's hardly ever necessary.

As I read your post, you turned the computer off while it was resetting Windows (that can take a few hours). So now you have some incomplete (say half) Windows on your hard dsk. Or were you wise enough to wait with turning it off until it showed Windows in its full original glory again?

Furthermore, the current status is unclear. If you say "it won't boot fully" do you mean "it gives a BSOD saying something like 'PNP driver watchdog'". Or are that two different observations?

A possible solution: download the Windows 10 installer on DVD or USB-stick using Microsofts Media Creation Tool (it's all free) and boot from that to do a reset or (if necessary) a clean install of Windows 10.

Hey, thanks for replying.
It gives a BSOD like you said saying something like 'PNP driver watchdog'"
For the possible solution that you mentioned is there other ways than doing that if not please send me a video on how to do it. I'm just not sure if I can boot Windows on a USB stick as my laptop is just stuck on the ASUS logo with the loading dots - can't go into windows advance options but I can go into BIOS.
Thanks for the reply!
(yeah should of been more wise and more patient Cool )

Maybe somebody else with another solution to get Windows up and running again, but if it doesn't boot you surely need something else to boot from.

- To make a bootable USB stick with the Windows installer go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and give the right answers for your situation.
- To boot from a DVD or a USB stick, set the boot priority in the BIOS. That's kind of easy.
- Then boot from it and make the right choices again.

I doubt if there are videos telling you how to update this specific setting in your BIOS, and I also doubt if there are videos telling you what the right answers are for you when making that bootable USB-stick, let alone when you try the diffferent repair options.
So I'm afraid you'll have to read in stead of view. Might be difficult for the younger generations.
