Did you try the generic reset?
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / December 28, 2013 3:43 AM PST

It's in the welcome post at the top. In short (since I'm duplicating content) power off, remove power, remove battery, press and hold power button for 60 seconds, release, slip in battery, apply power, try again.

Does ANYTHING happen when you press pwr button?

Do any lights flash? Does anything appear on the screen? If not, maybe you should check your power supply. The output voltage is shown on the device, mine's around 18 VDC. You might need to replace it. Have you checked the connection to be sure it's plugged securely into the laptop with no damage to the connectors?

When I plug in the charger the laptop light for charging turns on though.

It's an acer aspire 5755. Model no P5WE0. It's about 2 years old. Runs windows 7 home premium. I don't think I need to supply specs, but if you want I can say something's i remember.
