Laptop won't recognize internet connection

Hoping someone can help me out. I recently started a new job and was given a Dell Latitude running XP Pro (model # worn off or I would provide). When I brought it home and tried to connect to my Comcast broadband connection through both wireless and ethernet connections, the connection isn't recognized. I can plug the cable into my desktop and another laptop and it works for both. The work laptop recognizes the wireless connection but shows as "limited or no connectivity", whereas my other laptop connects just fine. My gut tells me it is a firewall issue. Someone suggested unplugging the power and battery, then reconnecting with the ethernet plugged in... no luck. I'm really hoping to work from home and not have to drive in to work as often (gas $$$ are raping me!), but I need to get online to do so. PLEASE HELP if you can!!

Thanks so much,
Dave

Sounds like you've made the connection to the wireless device but don't have a proper IP address. As a start, and with one laptop working and one not, you should be able to see how the TCP/IP protocol and firewall settings are configured on the one that's working and match these to the one that's not.
