Laptop with Windows 98

by mopscare42 / April 7, 2006 4:43 AM PDT

A person gave me a laptop running Windows 98.
I though I could use it when traveling just to check email so I don't need too much.
The problem I am having is all the PCI network cards that I can find will only work with Windows 98se and above.
I have checked online through Google for SE updrades with no luck.
I called a few places in town and get the same results.
The person that gave me the laptop said he had a network card in it at one time and it worked. Unfortunately he has no idea where it went, so I know there has to be something out there that will work
Any advise would be much apperciated.

see my profile and email me your PCMCIA card info, assuming you have or can get "dongles". Info on card and "hardware wizard i.d. info. I'll check my driver sites and send you a download link or the driver file. Often, W95 drivers will work on non-SE win98.

I found the upgrade for Windows 98 SE and the price was $100.00 and I thought why would he want an older operating system software when he could have a better, more stable one. You can upgrade as long as you have at least 233MHZ OR BETTER SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS...128 MB ram. My old Windows 98 I upgraded to Windows XP Pro

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
