There are many reasons to disconnect from just a little too far from the router, malware, wifi channel of the router and more.
All I have to work with here is "HP Envy" and the symptom. It's very technical and let's go with it never worked right. Make it a warranty issue.
Let me begin by saying I am not technologically savvy, so this may seem like a simple fix to many of you, but baffles me! I have an HP Envy laptop. It tends to disconnect from WIFI on a regular basis. When I look for open networks to reconnect, it shows none. I have to restart the computer to reconnect. Needless to say this is very frustrating. I bought a USB connection and tried using that, but I can't seem to connect through that at all. Is this likely a bad WIFI card?
