laptop vs pocket pc

Feb 26, 2005 8:53PM PST

hey
I know pocket PCs are PDAs and not laptops, but will it work for what I want to do? Can a PDA replace a laptop for me?
I want to take notes in class (w/ portable keyboard), and store some mp3s on it, plus the regular pda functions. Also if i set up a wireless network I'd like it to be able to get onto it.
to do this i wil use
Dell Axim X30 (624 version)
1gb sd card
dell portable keyboard
extra battery (mabie)

The usual omission is... printing.

While a PDA is very useful, can access the web, do email and more, the one blatent omission is the formatting and printing of some document.

You'll be able to go on some network, but unlike a PC you may find what you can do... limited.

still have a computer

hey
I will still have a desktop replacement laptop in my room (hp zd8000 probably). I don't really care if I have to do some reformating. Also I figure I can stick the sd card into one of those sd to usb adapters and it will work like a usb key (if i need to print through a computer without my hot sync).

A recent good thing.

Until very recently, PDAs didn't store usuable files on the removable memory sticks. This has been an area I've seen improvement over the past few years.

Be sure to test that such works before you commit so much money on this PDA.
