Laptop VGA to TV with ATI Mobility Radeon 16MB

I read much about VGA to TV capabilities (and lack of) and see many cheap cables on ebay which state they only work if the display adaptor supports TV out.

I have a Sony Z1-XSP with the above adaptor (anemic even back in 2004/5). There is only a VGA-out port however on the ATI site (http://ati.amd.com/products/MobilityRadeon/video.html) it says "Your Mobility Radeon based notebook can support a connection to a TV Set". This detail is in the subsection of this card - not its more recent devices.

Anyone know much about this particular Mobility Radeon and TV - or even better with the Sony Z1 series ability to connect to a TV (s-video or co-ax)

There is a further reference towards the end of the specs section (http://ati.amd.com/products/MobilityRadeon/specs.html)
