Question

Laptop Upgrade Suggestions?

Aug 14, 2018 11:59AM PDT

Hey there! So my laptop broke last year, after only having it for 1 or 2 years, but I understand, considering I got it cheap during Cyber Monday.

I've just been using my phone for internet but I'm about sick of it so I'm starting to look at and save up for a new laptop.

But here's where the question lies:
What, in your professional opinion, is my best upgrade option?

This is what I had before:
https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-touchsmart-15-r137wm-15-6-core-i3-4005u-6-gb-ram-500-gb-hdd-j9k49uaaba/specs/

I'm looking to have AT LEAST the same amount of hard drive space, RAM, and processing GHz,
although I understand the more RAM and GHz you have, the better/faster the computer runs.

(and so I hope it'll take longer for the new computer to break... idk why this one did so soon, previous laptops I had did not come anywhere near those specs)(but that's a different discussion)

So could you all maybe give me some options to look over?
I've tried various shopping websites and narrowed down my searches but it's a little time consuming, since I don't have EXACT specs I want, just minimum requirements.

Ooh and I'm looking for the cheapest possible option Wink
I'd really not like to spend more than $500, so I know I might have to compromise some of the details, but that's okay. I just want to get something asap so I can stop hurting my wrists by holding my phone 24/7 haha

TIA

refurbs

hey thanks!

I will definitely check out that link. I am just a little scared of refurbs though bc that means it was once broken, and who says it won't break again? Wink

Your choice at the end of the day.

We are about a year later and all the Groupon laptops soldier on. Not one issue. All were mostly the Probooks which is HP's much better builds.

Refurbs are sourced from corporate disposals, customer returns and more. Most laptop returns are not due to being broken but other reasons from my time in retail.
