Laptop Suggestions for College Student

Jul 24, 2015 7:25AM PDT

My son is an Education major, and needs a machine for school work, but also wants to use his laptop for gaming. Any suggestions on what to purchase? Don't want to spend more than $1000. Thanks.

The Lenovo Y50 and Y40 line always comes up. Take a look at the options that line has.

Mind that you won't be playing The Witcher III at Ludicrous settings but it will game.

Your budget is very good, you can get an high end Laptop within that range.

I would not suggest you a specific model or a band. But, I will give you a check list before you purchase your new workstation laptop.

Hello, I would like to propose MSI GE62 or ASUS G551, these 2 models is higher performance and works fine for 3 more years for your son, and the OS with SSD version is recommended!

Asus G551 and msi Ge62 are both acceptable options but the thermal pipes is also critical while you use the machine for 3D gameplay.

When it comes to gaming, I think MSI GL62 has more gaming elements on the features and casing than Lenovo.
