Laptop Stuck always-Hard drive problem

Jan 28, 2015 6:09PM PST

My Acer laptop couldn't start and said could not find windows files. then I reinstalled the windows using a pen drive. Then bootup problem fixed. But laptop is not operating properly. It is getting stuck always. I defragmented the hard drive. For few hours then it worked properly and again facing that problem. Is that surely problem with hard drive?

Any error msgs? BSOD? Or just freezes with last image on screen? Does it both on battery only and on AC too?

Or some other issue.

The USB stick could be other than the Acer issued OS so you may find a lot of issues with that.

You could try another HDD as those are pretty cheap today and be sure to use the Acer issued OS.

Defragmenting a hard drive usually solves the issue but if you are still in problem then probably HD is damaged. Try SMART check see what it suggests.

(NT) Defragmenting never solves such an issue.

The OP already did that.

While I've found CHKDSK to clear things up, I've yet to find defrag to fix anything.
