Before replacing any hardware (what hardware?) I'd go back to factory conditions (or your image backup from when all was still well). Only if that's sluggish also, start thinking hardware.
Can you run disk diagnostics? That could be a cause, and - moreover - it's the only thing that is cost-effective to replace.
I bought a refurbished "Toshiba 17.3" Satellite Notebook - 8 GB Memory - 1 TB Hard Drive" about a year ago. It has become extremely sluggish. Webpages and software take a long time to load. Videos play decent once they are loaded.
I have ran malware and virus scans, but it is clean. Before I upgrade any hardware I want to be sure of the issue.
