Question

laptop speakers not working

Getting loud piercing sound from my windows 7 Dell laptop speakers when the volume controls are turned on. Took laptop in for new sound card but Tech told me that external speakers would work instead. Purchased set of external speakers and followed direction on insert that comes with the speakers but still get no sound. Still getting loud piercing noise from laptop speakers. Any suggestions?

I'm going with no warranty situation.

Almost ALL laptops have internal speakers I can unplug. I'm going as-if there is no warranty and you want to eek out what life is left in the laptop without a repair that takes a new motherboard or a factory reset. Which leads me to offer "unplug the internal speakers."
