Question

Laptop shuts down 30 mins after boot.

Feb 21, 2015 10:33PM PST

I have recently upgraded my acer aspire e1 531 laptop from pentium to i5 all worked well however whenever I boot up my computer I have 30 minutes before the computer shuts down without warning. I have seen other people with this problem but no solution. It seems to be on a timer in the bios. Can anyone help.
Thanks,

Is this a windows 8 computer?

Does this shutdown happen while using it, or when it's idle for 30 minutes. Check your power settings.

(NT) It happens when using it and even in bios.

If you put it back to the factory condition it should if nothing is damaged work as it should.

However, I find some thinking that heatsink compound is optional or re-usable. It's not.

Try removing motherboard Battery for few minutes and set you BIOS.
If this doesn't work then probably your ram is not supporting your device.

Assuming you only changed the CPU, not the motherboard, I'd ask Acer tech support if you need a BIOS update (or some special setting) to support your new CPU.

Then try resetting that to defaults.

If it's still doing it, then it's a hardware issue. Since the CPU isn't stock, go back to stock and re-test.
