Laptop screen keeps going black

Hi, please can anyone help? I have a laptop and very often when it is up and running for some strange reason the screen goes all dark. Not completely black as I am able to make out the page I was viewing although it's too dark to use. The specs of the laptop: Samsung R510 Model NP-R510 NP R510 FAA2UK. Can it be rectified and if so what would the possible cost be? As you will no doubt agree this is most frustrating. Your help would be most appreciated. Regards Brian
