I am about to buy a dell precision m6400 for architecture school
my school is recommending a monster those are the specs:

Intel

If you can, do that. As we will soon see more and more posts about backlight failures in years 3, 4 and 5 the LED neatly avoids this as well as gives back some power.

As to those specs, those look like a common desktop CAD machine. If they issued such a spec, I bet they have specific machines that meet it. Ask them for what make, model meets that.

ok about the specs as I wrote I am buying a dell precision m6400
that they recomend
about the led - how noticeble is the diference in viewing for graphics? any one with pics?

The color shift in CCFL is enough to see such in just a few years if not months. If you don't calibrate the display you often find out what this is all about.

LED removes that and gives you back some Watts of power.

Do this if you can.
