Laptop screen does not wake up

by aka10003 / February 18, 2005 3:25 AM PST

When my laptop wakes up from Standby, the screen stays dark and I have to restart.

The screen works just fine after Hibernate; using XP Pro.

Is it plugged into a power supply?

Because standby can continue to use battery power. Hibernation doesn't. Check your power settings and adjust as needed.

Usually the maker's issue.

Such can be heavily dependant (and is!) on the maker's drivers. Nothing in your post suggests this is the maker's drivers or the OS from the restore CDs.

It is a restored...

The OS ( This is a Toshiba Satellite ) was actually restored by a Toshiba technician from their own set of CDs.
Trying to update the driver found no better driver available -- will try further in this direction. Thanks.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
