Question

Laptop runs slow after closing a game

by Darkwind07 / January 4, 2018 10:54 PM PST

I'm having this problem where i close a game or minimize it my laptop starts to lag or run really slow for some 10 mins and then comes back to normal .
For me to run another game i need to either restart or let my laptop rest for some 20 mins (I keep my drivers upto date and deleted all the unnecessary files) Is there a way to solve this?
specs:
Processor : i7-5500u 2.40Ghz
Ram : 16 gb DDR3
Graphics : Nvidia geforce gtx 950m
2 Tb storage SSD

Close or minimize a game and open task manager see if something shows as being busy.

As mentioned this might just be a heat issue.

Laptop may have a faster HDD (SSD maybe?) or simply less programs running in the background, thus making the transfer back from swap faster. On the laptop you can also have lower settings, thus reducing the load on ram. If I were you I would buy more ram for the PC regardless of the real cause of this, 8Gb is very cheap nowadays and it will almost always make your machine run much smoother, buy 2x8Gb and the performance of everything will improve drastically (just remember to buy matching specs i.e. CL, frequency).

I would advice to get a better laptop if you are a gaming geek. For now, try updating the graphic card. It may help.
