The visual effect is never the same so those that look for the same are lost. They are missing the point. Such display issues can be from the chip to the LCD and what's along the way.
As a tech you swap the lowest cost part first until you find it.
Dell Insp 17 laptop. Abruptly display changed to psychedelic-like look. Downgrading refresh rate from 60mhz to 40 greatly improves but can still see few flickers. Connected laptop HDMI to VGA of external monitor, duplicated display onto external and display on external monitor appears normal. Sitting side-by-side, the laptop display is horrid, the external monitor clear and no flickers. The problem is apparent during startup and in safe mode - I tried updating drivers etc - so it must be hardware. If its a bad screen, its worth fixing; if its the motherboard its not. Can anyone advise me on which is more likely?
