laptop product key plse help

heres were i am i have a vista home premium laptop and a xp computer..i want home premium on the computer so can i download vista premium on the computer and install it and then put in the product key from my laptop..will the laptop product key work up to 3 times? pleasee any help is aprietiated

Usually fails. Here's why.

The product key is for an OEM version and the way you worded it you would be using some version from another machine.

Let's be clear that OEM, pre-installed versions have plenty of locks installed and you DID NOT BUY a full license so rights to move it to a new machine do not exist.

but the license key i see is on the controll panel so if i download the vista from internet even if its a trial and it asks me for product key would it work...

1.) You may NOT simply download Windows off the internet. There are NO free trials.

2.) Your product key is only valid for ONE computer at a time. If you want to use it on the desktop, you MUST remove the copy of Windows from the laptop.

3.) If it is an OEM copy of Windows, you may NOT transfer it from one computer to another, period.
